Friday Roundup: Pulse of the Cloud
The big news of RackSpace’s OpenStack Open Source Cloud has sparked debate and a lot of interesting discussions all over the web. It’s even inspired NASA to move. Heck, if NASA made it to the Moon, why not the Cloud?
Apparently the Google Cloud is not batting 1000% with Google having missed a deadline in switching over LA’s city services. While it’s not a good sign, I don’t think it’s a terrible one either. I’m still just really curious how this will play out. It’s high profile and very public. With LA and Google the question is one of security, but isn’t it always?
Google has been showing off it’s ability to Print from the Cloud. Our prediction? By the end of this year expect a new world of ability for that little device we use to call a cell phone.
With Microsoft’s huge news today about it’s profit growth (step aside Apple) it should make it easier to add partners to Azure for Cloud Computing products. I’m excited to see the battle that is looming in Cloud Infrastructure. It can only mean one thing, great options for consumers and providers.
The government may be slow but it’s moving to the Cloud, slowly but surely.
As the debate about Cloud Security continues to stay heavy I predict we’ll start to see more in the growth of companies catering to the same. If anything, I’d expect more buyouts in this area as Google, Azure, Apple, RackSpace, and Amazon all battle for supremacy.
