Friday Roundup: Pulse on the Cloud

Each week that passes we see more news and movement in the Cloud Computing world. Whether it’s financial projections or new software the Cloud Wars are heating up. The biggest shakeup this week was the demise of Google Wave. If any of you used Google Wave you’ll surely remember the 3 seconds of ecstasy followed by the months of “what do I do now?”.  No matter how you cut it it’s still a tragic death at the young age of 1. The somber obituary cites “acute unpopularity” as reason for death. Now let’s check out the other cool stories this week.

SalesForce and Microsoft may have settled their dispute but the war is not over

In the great reads to check out Accenture’s Cloud Computing Captain gave some great insights into their Cloud solutions and where they see the future. One of the most important things to note is their desire to NOT be involved with the infrastructure side instead choosing to let Amazon and Microsoft create what they need and build on top.

The CEO of bitTorrent gave his personal argument against Cloud Computing. It’s an interesting argument and I’m curious what MSP’s think of his stance.

A cool thought to mull over, will the term PC stand for Private Cloud soon? I think the time is coming closer and closer for everyone to have their accessible everywhere Private Cloud. Access your documents, music, movies, and software applications at any computer or mobile device. It’s coming faster than you think.

Do you have any doubts as to the size of Amazon’s Cloud Computing business? This should put that at ease. SPOILER ALERT – It’s a lot of money.
